I remember cutting out snowflakes out of the paper around New Year time. It was fun and strangely addictive. I thought I was over it.
Obviously not, as I have found this virtual Make-a-Flake game (if one can call it that) and I am snipping away again.

If you speak more than one language and have a blog, join the Carnival of Blog Translation.
I am not a translator, but I do speak (and write) English and Russian. I will be participating. The next step is to figure out whether I should do it from Russian into English or from English into Russian. Maybe I can even do both. Certainly a translation practice could not go astray.

My movie has been in the development for a while. It started around Christmas, but took a long while to get all 3 voice-over tracks recorded, edited and aligned to subtitles.
In addition, the Movies game – which is what I used – has infuriating habits of losing the subtitle and sound track locations around if one wants to redo a scene or recut the sequence. And the camera work could have been more flexible. Still, it is better than machinima environments available before (as described in the Wired’s article).
I think my next movie will be about robots. At least there I can get away with a fake voice.

I am sitting for the part one of the RSCDS‘ preliminary teaching certificate. The part one is mostly theory and history, so involves a good lot of memorisation, with the hope that memorised facts will aid later deep comprehension.
I am using flashcards to help me remember the facts. I have free software installed on my computer (Pauker) for the best results, but I also have an online copy to quickly practice at work. That stack is publicly available on Flashcard Exchange website, so anybody else could use it as well.
Alex.
